Managing distributed infrastructure, separated either physically or virtually, is a tall task. It often requires some very intelligent, complicated networking. For instance, to support multi-cloud environments, you may have a system of complex VPNs configured. Or maybe you are required to maintain stringent firewall rules between all networks, even networks within the same logical unit. In either case, moving data between any of these networks can pose a challenge. This is where BrazenCloud can take the difficulty out of communications by allowing you to surgically open connections as needed and tear them down when you are done, no direct network connections required.

Networking Restrictions

In a single cloud environment, or even in an on-prem or private datacenter setup, you may have a multitude of different networks. Between each of these networks, you have some sort of firewall where you utilize traffic whitelisting, only allowing approved traffic to traverse networks. The reasons for doing this range from regulations to security precautions, but regardless of the motivation, this type of network configuration causes headaches. They can be so bad that that even the most diehard network engineer has to regularly remind themselves that this is all done to limit potential lateral movement by a bad actor.

If we take that approach and expand it to a multi-cloud environment, it starts sounding sisyphean. Now we have a complex VPN system to setup and maintain, all while carefully controlling what types of network traffic can traverse each network boundary. Certainly only the most sadistic among us will attempt to plan, deploy, and maintain this all by hand. Well, as much as managing virtual infrastructure can be considered 'by hand'. There's a high likelihood that you'll be bringing in a high-cost solution or some expensive consulting time to make this work for your organization.

BrazenCloud Infrastructure

Now BrazenCloud isn't a magic network connectivity solution. Instead, we take a completely different approach that gives you an alternative. BrazenCloud is an automation platform that orchestrates Brazen Agent, which are devices that have the BrazenCloud agent installed. Using BrazenCloud, you can deploy Jobs that contain Actions to collect data from one Brazen Agent and move it to another without a requirement for either Brazen Agent to have network line of sight. The only requirement is for each Brazen Agent to be able to talk to BrazenCloud, which, if they already have an installed Brazen Agent, they already can do.

BrazenCloud also isn't a data storage host. The platform doesn't collect any of this data and store it. Instead, the Results are cached on the source Brazen Agent and then a Connector, the Brazen Agent specified at Job creation to collect the results, leverages the BrazenCloud platform to have the Results routed to it via the BrazenCloud cloud. Then, if the Connector creates any results, they can be routed back to the original Brazen Agent, or on to another Brazen Agent by specifying following Actions and Connectors. The options are only limited to your Brazen Agent!

This isn't even limited to just host to host communication. If you have a service or application protected behind a firewall, a BrazenCloud Action can be written to pull data out of one platform and then route it through BrazenCloud to another Brazen Agent located anywhere. The data could then be ingested into any other service or application, even something completely different from the source. As long as you can write the Action or work with our engineering team to write the Action, it can be done.

Extending BrazenCloud

Now if you are looking to customize BrazenCloud Actions to your needs, all of the mentioned features are available to any Actions that you develop. This means that if you have a very specific or proprietary use case, you can build your own Actions using our Action Developer Guide. Your Action would be able to collect and send data from any Brazen Agent(s) to any Brazen Agent(s) that you have configured in your BrazenCloud Tenant. The hope is that you have to worry less about network complexity and more about the important things.
